Little Background on Chilis Bar and Grill
Chilis is a restaurant chain that was founded on March 13, 1975 by Larry Lavine. It is a wholly owned subsidiary and belongs to the casual dining restaurants industry. The Chili headquarters are in Dallas, Texas, U.S. the key person at Chilis is Mr. Norman E. Brinker and Brinker International, who is also the owner of Maggiano’s Little Italy, is the parent to Chilis. The chain today has over 1400 outlets which are located in Canada and the U.S.
The first location for Chilis was a postal station that was converted on Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. It was opened somewhere in 1975 because Lavine wished to create a full-service, informal dining place which would sell a variety of hamburgers at reasonable prices. The brand did end up being extremely successful and by the 1980’s Chili’s had 28 outlets in the region.
Sometime in 1983 Lavine sold off his restaurant to Norman E. Brinker, who was a restaurant executive at the time with Pillsbury. Today, Chilis has outlets in over 50 states in the U.S., 2 territories and 30 international locations. (more on Chilis Grill and Bar History)
